Trip Report | Omni Bedford Springs
Sometimes, the best adventures come as a gift! When I left my former job after 17 years, my coworkers surprised me with a gift card to the Omni Bedford Springs Resort. They knew I had been wanting to visit forever. Mark and I decided it was the perfect excuse for a weekend getaway, and let me tell you - it did not disappoint. From the history, to the spa, to the beautiful Christmas decorations (we visited at the end of November), we just loved the charming ambiance of this quaint property.
Friday evening: Relaxation mode activated
It was the weekend before Thanksgiving. We left Pittsburgh around 3:00 and drove the ~2 hours through the Allegheny Mountains to Bedford, PA. Mark gets credit for driving through the twisting, turning mountains during a full-on snowstorm - yikes! We arrived at the resort and headed straight to the Springs Eternal Spa for massages that evening. The spa is incredibly relaxing, and our treatments certainly set the tone for the weekend.
After our massages, we checked into our cozy guestroom before heading to The Frontier Tavern for dinner. With its warm, rustic vibe and elevated bar food menu, the tavern offered the perfect setting to unwind, relax, and kickoff the weekend. We had the baked burrata, dried berries and blue cheese salad with chicken, and the Tavern burger and fries.
Saturday morning: Exploring the property
Saturday began with a pain au chocolat and the biggest lattes we could find at Evitt House Coffee, then a long, brisk walk around the resort’s picturesque grounds. Omni Bedford Springs is nestled in the Allegheny Mountains, and the crisp winter air combined with the peaceful surroundings made our ~3 mile walk sort of feel like a scene from a Hallmark movie.
Afterwards, we made our way to Tillie’s at the Clubhouse for lunch. Located on the resort’s golf course, Tillie’s offers pretty views and a menu full of hearty, comforting options. Mark got the tortilla soup and fish tacos and I had the Caesar salad with shrimp. It was the perfect laid-back spot to refuel after our walk.
Saturday afternoon: Indulging at the Spa
After lunch, we headed back to the Springs Eternal Spa, but this time, we went for the Bedford Bath Ritual, a can’t-miss experience at the spa. With a series of mineral baths, a steam room, and a relaxation lounge, it’s a luxurious way to unwind. The mineral springs have been drawing visitors to this property for centuries, and it’s easy to see why.
Normally when you book a spa treatment, you get complimentary access to the Baths that same day. We requested complimentary access to the Baths on Saturday instead since our spa treatments were scheduled for Friday evening, and the spa staff were happy to accommodate us. We were very pleased!
Saturday evening: Dinner at the Crystal Room
After a quick cocktail at the Lobby Bar, we dined at the resort’s iconic Crystal Room. From the elegant setting to the impeccable service and wonderful food, the Crystal Room was the perfect finale to our day. We dined on Caprese salad, Faroe Island Salmon, Tournedos Rossini, and the chocolate torte. We left full and happy!
Sunday morning: Departing the Omni
After sleeping in and packing up, we went back to Evitt House Coffee for a quick breakfast and coffee before checking out and driving back to Pittsburgh. It was a quick weekend away, but just enough time to recharge a bit!
Why we’d recommend Omni Bedford Springs
What made this trip truly special was the magical ambiance of the resort. The Christmas decorations were really stunning, adding an extra touch of charm and wonder to every corner of the property. We also loved the resort’s connection to its small-town surroundings. The Omni has such quaint charm - the many nooks and cozy corners to sit and enjoy a crackling fire, read a book, or sip a cocktail, the cute shops selling local goods and trinkets, the life-size carousel made entirely out of gingerbread, and the boardgames set up throughout the common areas just waiting to be played.
If you’re looking for a weekend getaway that combines history, charm, and even some luxury, we would definitely recommend Bedford Springs. Truly the perfect place for a quick weekend away if you live nearby. We left feeling refreshed, recharged, and grateful for the thoughtful gift that made the weekend possible.
Points & Miles Breakdown
Shockingly, we did not use any points or miles for this trip! Flights were not needed since it was a quick drive from Pittsburgh. We charged the accommodations, food, and spa treatments to our room and applied the generous gift card from my former co-workers. The remainder, we put on our Chase Sapphire Preferred card since it earns 2x points on travel.
If you are planning a trip that is not easily “hackable” using credit card points and miles, one option is to use Capital One Venture miles. If you use your Venture card to pay for the trip, and the charge codes as travel, you can apply your Venture miles to your credit card statement and “erase” the charge. So, if you had 75,000 Venture miles in your Capital One account, you could use them to erase $750 coded as travel on your credit card statement.
We opted not to do this since we typically save our Venture miles for flights instead, but it is certainly an option if you’re wanting a free trip.
Capital One Venture card - Earn 75,000 Venture miles after spending $4,000 in three months. It has a $95 annual fee, but paying that is well worth the 75,000 Venture miles. If you cash them out as explained above, it translates to $750! Also, this is a great everyday card since you earn a flat 2x miles per dollar spent, regardless of spending category.
Capital One Venture X card - Same deal as above! Earn 75,000 Venture miles after spending $4,000 in three months. While this card has an annual fee of $395, it comes with many useful benefits including a $300 travel credit each year and access to many airport lounges around the globe. With this card, you also earn a flat 2x miles per dollar spent, regardless of spending category.
As a reminder, using our referral links (above) costs you nothing but helps support us by giving us a small kickback when new cardholders apply!
We’re here for any questions!

Friendly reminder: We are not financial advisers, we are simply sharing our method and approach with you. Of course, it's important to use credit cards responsibly. Pay off your balance in full each month to avoid interest charges, and never spend more than you can afford just to earn rewards.
